Risk Warning on Trading HK Stocks

Despite Hong Kong's robust legal and regulatory framework, its stock market still faces unique risks and challenges, such as currency fluctuations due to the Hong Kong dollar's peg to the US dollar and the impact of mainland China's policy changes and economic conditions on Hong Kong stocks.

HK Stock Trading Fees and Taxation

Trading costs in the Hong Kong stock market include transaction fees, stamp duty, settlement charges, and currency conversion fees for foreign investors. Additionally, taxes may apply based on local regulations.

HK Non-Essential Consumer Goods Industry

The Hong Kong stock market encompasses non-essential consumption sectors like automotive, education, tourism, catering, and apparel. Of the 643 listed companies, 35% are mainland Chinese, making up 65% of the total market capitalization. Thus, it's heavily influenced by the Chinese economy.

HK Real Estate Industry

In recent years, the real estate and construction sector's share in the Hong Kong stock index has notably decreased. Nevertheless, as of 2022, it retains around 10% market share, covering real estate development, construction engineering, investment, and property management.

      Commodity
      Summary:

XAU/USD is hovering around $4,116–$4,120 after yesterday’s sell-off to a two-month low, with the $4,100–$4,120 region now acting as the key demand zone..

      Overview

Gold is attempting to stabilise after an aggressive correction that pushed spot XAU/USD to approximately $4,066 on October 7, its lowest level since August. It has since recovered toward $4,116–$4,120, making this zone important for determining whether the market is forming a short-term base or simply pausing before another leg lower. Reuters reports that spot gold was around $4,116.67 on October 8 after the previous session's two-month low.
The macro backdrop remains complicated. September US payroll growth was only 29,000, substantially below expectations, which reduced the probability of an October Fed hike. However, markets still price an approximately 86% probability of another hike in December. Higher Treasury yields and a firmer USD therefore continue to create an opportunity-cost disadvantage for gold.
For the $4,120 BUY, the important point is that gold has already tested beneath this area and failed to maintain the breakdown. That creates the possibility of a liquidity sweep below $4,100 followed by short covering. Nevertheless, the broader technical trend has not reversed, so the position should target a relatively modest M15 recovery rather than assume a return to $4,200 immediately.

      Market Sentiment

Sentiment remains cautious toward gold, but the selling is becoming increasingly dependent on yields and the USD rather than a deterioration in gold's structural demand. Gold ETF inflows and continued Chinese purchases are providing a longer-term demand floor even as short-term traders remain defensive. FX Leaders
The key asymmetry is around $4,100. Sellers have already driven price below $4,100, but the market has not yet established sustained acceptance underneath it. If $4,100–$4,120 continues attracting buyers, short positions established during the breakdown become vulnerable to a squeeze toward $4,140 and then $4,175–$4,180.
At the same time, $4,179 is the first major recovery barrier. Current analysis remains neutral-to-bearish below this level, meaning a bounce from $4,120 should initially be treated as mean reversion rather than a confirmed trend change.

      Technical Analysis

Gold Tests $4,120 Support: Can XAU/USD Rebound From the Two-Month Low?_1
Using Bollinger Bands (20,0,2), Ichimoku (9,26,52) and Stochastic (5,3,3) on M15, $4,120 is a reasonable tactical BUY because price is close to the lower boundary of the recent range after an extended downside expansion. The ideal setup is an M15 rejection around $4,100–$4,120 followed by a return above the Bollinger middle band.
With Ichimoku (9,26,52), the structure remains bearish while price stays below the Kijun and cloud. The first meaningful confirmation would be a higher low above $4,100 followed by a Kijun reclaim. A move through $4,179 would be substantially stronger evidence that the correction is turning into a short-term bullish reversal.
For Stochastic (5,3,3), the preferred trigger is a bullish crossover from the oversold region while price holds $4,100–$4,120. This is particularly important because RSI on the broader timeframe remains weak, meaning simply being near support is not sufficient confirmation.
The first upside target is $4,160, with $4,175–$4,180 as the stronger resistance zone. A decisive M15 break below $4,100 would invalidate the setup and expose $4,070.
