Risk Warning on Trading HK Stocks

Despite Hong Kong's robust legal and regulatory framework, its stock market still faces unique risks and challenges, such as currency fluctuations due to the Hong Kong dollar's peg to the US dollar and the impact of mainland China's policy changes and economic conditions on Hong Kong stocks.

HK Stock Trading Fees and Taxation

Trading costs in the Hong Kong stock market include transaction fees, stamp duty, settlement charges, and currency conversion fees for foreign investors. Additionally, taxes may apply based on local regulations.

HK Non-Essential Consumer Goods Industry

The Hong Kong stock market encompasses non-essential consumption sectors like automotive, education, tourism, catering, and apparel. Of the 643 listed companies, 35% are mainland Chinese, making up 65% of the total market capitalization. Thus, it's heavily influenced by the Chinese economy.

HK Real Estate Industry

In recent years, the real estate and construction sector's share in the Hong Kong stock index has notably decreased. Nevertheless, as of 2022, it retains around 10% market share, covering real estate development, construction engineering, investment, and property management.

USD/CHF Hits One-Month Low as Swiss Franc Gains on Fiscal Strength

      Traders' Opinions
      Summary:

USD/CHF falls to a one-month low below 0.8200 as Switzerland’s strong public finances support the Franc. Recent SNB minutes and uncertainty over the Fed’s policy outlook add to pressure on the US Dollar.

USD/CHF extended its decline on Thursday, falling to a one-month low below 0.8200 before recovering slightly as the Swiss Franc continued to outperform a weakening US Dollar. Growing concerns over government debt in major economies have increased demand for the Franc, while uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy outlook continues to weigh on the Greenback.
Switzerland’s comparatively strong public finances have emerged as a key source of support for its currency. Government debt in the US reached 124% of GDP in the second quarter of 2026, while France’s stood at 119% and Japan’s exceeded 200%. By contrast, Swiss public debt remains around 15% of GDP. This substantial difference has helped reinforce the Franc’s appeal amid concerns about rising global borrowing levels, contributing to a 2.3% decline in USD/CHF over the past two weeks.
Commerzbank analysts emphasize that Switzerland’s public finances remain considerably stronger than those of most other advanced economies. Although domestic discussions continue over the sustainability of the country’s debt brake amid demographic pressures and higher military spending, these concerns remain relatively limited compared with fiscal challenges elsewhere.
The latest Swiss National Bank meeting minutes have provided additional support for the Franc. Policymakers expressed a moderately positive outlook for economic activity over the coming quarters and reported no current signs of second-round inflation effects. However, they warned that elevated energy prices continue to tilt near-term inflation risks to the upside. The Franc strengthened following the release.
USD/CHF remains vulnerable as Switzerland’s fiscal position attracts investors seeking stability amid global debt concerns. While the US Dollar could recover if expectations for tighter Federal Reserve policy strengthen, the Franc’s underlying support may keep the pair under pressure. Attention will remain on central bank signals, energy prices and broader market sentiment for clues about the next move.

Technical AnalysisUSD/CHF Hits One-Month Low as Swiss Franc Gains on Fiscal Strength_1

USD/CHF remains under bearish pressure on the H4 timeframe, trading around 0.8220 after a sharp reversal from the 0.8370–0.8380 resistance zone. The decline has pushed price below the ascending trendline and several previously established support levels, signaling a shift in market structure in favor of sellers. Recent price action continues to show lower highs and lower lows, suggesting that the recovery attempts have so far failed to reverse the broader downward trend.
The pair is currently testing the 0.8215–0.8225 region, which has become an important short-term resistance area following the recent breakdown. Although buyers have attempted a modest rebound after the latest sell-off, sustained movement above this zone has yet to develop. If sellers defend this area, USD/CHF could resume its decline toward 0.8195, followed by 0.8160. A decisive break below these levels would expose the next downside target around 0.8100.
On the upside, a sustained recovery above 0.8230–0.8235 would ease immediate selling pressure and could open the way toward 0.8265–0.8270. This higher zone previously acted as support before the latest decline and may now attract selling interest. Unless price reclaims these resistance levels, any rebound is likely to remain corrective rather than signal a confirmed bullish reversal.
